A gated mountain resort near Gatlinburg, and home to both of our cabins.
Cobbly Nob is a gated 1,000-acre mountain resort between Gatlinburg and Pittman Center, Tennessee. It is a residential and vacation-rental community with only about 125 luxury log cabins spread across the ridge, so it stays quiet and uncrowded even in peak season. Both of our cabins, Heaven's Edge and Picadilly Perch, sit inside the resort, side by side.
What makes Cobbly Nob worth knowing about is the location. The Greenbrier entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about six miles away. Greenbrier is the entrance locals recommend: less traffic than the busy Sugarlands gateway, with easy access to river swimming holes and trailheads like Porters Creek and Ramsey Cascades. Downtown Gatlinburg, with Ripley's Aquarium, Anakeesta, the SkyLift, and the Space Needle, is 10 to 20 minutes away. Pigeon Forge and Dollywood are roughly 8.5 miles out. You get the quiet side of the national park on one hand and the attractions on the other.
